I just want to point out a fault in the Aladdin post. Genie, being a genie, is all powerful. They mention this several times and he can likely time travel. This becomes even more plausible when you take into account this line, "Al, you're never going to find another girl like her in a million years. Believe me, I know: I've looked."
You're actually both right; the flag is different in different games. (http://www.mariowiki.com/Checkpoint_Flag) Although the point being made is sort of weakened by the fact that Mario is raising the peace flag, not lowering it.
This is an unrelated point, but I don't want to make a separate post for it and waste room. The Superman image is from textsfromsuperheroes.tumblr.com (which is amazing) so it would be great if you'd include a link to it. Unless you have specific permission from the copyright holder to reproduce their content it's only polite.
Perhaps, the Willy Wonka theory was like musical chairs... We will keep going until someone is out, thus removing one chair each time. It is just a long movie tied around this game.
